Brian Cecy has been a resident of Santa Cruz County since 1960. His first local business venture was Santa Cruz Compost, which he co-founded in 1977 with his brother-in-law, Bob Bowers. In 1989, he sold his interest to Bob and began his career in the insurance field as a life and health producer for Rittenhouse Insurance Services in Santa Cruz. After RIS was sold in 1990, Brian started his own company, Cecy Insurance Services, specializing in life, health, disability and group employee benefits.

After graduating from Santa Cruz High School in 1964, Brian served in the US Navy, returning home to attend Cabrillo College and Chico State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies as well as his teaching credential.

Brian has been an active member of the National Association of Health Underwriters since 1990; he holds the professional designation of Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) through the American College. He is also a LUTCF and past president of the Santa Cruz County Life Underwriters.

Brian, and his wife Susan, live on a family compound in the country with son Jeff, daughter Renee, and their spouses and children. A long-time supporter and season ticket holder of the San Jose Sharks, Brian also plays ice hockey in an adult league in the Silicon Valley. You can't take the Canuck out of the boy!

He attends Santa Cruz Bible Church where he is actively involved in leadership and Men's Ministries.

Lucinda (Cindy) Engelund began her career in the health insurance field in 1982 as a field claims examiner for Aetna Insurance in Salinas. After serving as an auditor and customer service analyst for small group accounts and Federal Employees Health Benefits Administration, she transferred to the Honolulu office as a senior field examiner in the employee benefits division responsible for federal retirees in the Pacific Rim as well as group employees throughout the state of Hawaii. In 1989, after returning to California, she obtained her individual health insurance producer license and began working in the individual health insurance field for Rittenhouse Insurance Services in Santa Cruz as an agent and service representative with Brian Cecy. When Brian established Cecy Insurance Services in 1990, Cindy became service manager and individual producer. Over the years she has established a reputation as a tenacious client advocate and the “St. Jude” of complicated claims issues.

Currently a resident of Seacliff, Cindy was raised in Capitola and has lived in the Santa Cruz County area most of her life. She graduated from Aptos High School, received an Associate of Arts in Business from Cabrillo College, a Bachelor of Science from San Jose State University in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and a Master of Library and Information Science from San Jose State University.

When not out and about enjoying her photographic pursuits, Cindy spends time at the beach with her daughter Roxanne and their Rottie/Aussie shepherd mix, Athena.

Susan came to Cecy Insurance after working many years as a Human Resource and Benefits Manager. She enjoys being able to help others understand the sometimes-complex world of insurance. She became a licensed agent in August 2006. She lives in Santa Cruz with her hubby Dennis and they have 3 children. If she is not at work, you might find her at the gym, at the disc golf course or at the Shark tank cheering for her San Jose Sharks!

Paul Brooke started in health insurance 16 years ago. He enjoys the business becuase he likes helping people and assisting them with the many issues that come arise. For the past 10 years He has served on the board of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and is a past president. He has earned an LUTCF designation and will be studying for a Registered Health Underwriter designation. Paul lives in Scotts Valley with his wife Robin and 3 daughters. When he is not working he enjoys tennis, golf, Fly fishing and playing the guitar.

Jim Brumme joined Cecy Insurance Services in the Fall of 2004. Previously, he sold insurance as an independent agent though his own company, Jim Brumme Insurance since 1999. During this time he also taught at Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville, California. Jim received his Master’s degree from Western Seminary in 1978 and a Bachelor of Arts in 1974 from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. He is married to Tracy and together they have three boys, Andrew, Joey and Timothy.

Jim’s specialty with Cecy Insurance Services is with high deductible HSA qualified health insurance plans for both the group and individual market.
